April Home Maintence Tips for anyone

Baltimore, MD: April is the time we can finally head outdoors. By the end of this month, 70 degrees will be normal, tulips will be in full bloom and the trees will be sporting leaves! If you are as excited about Spring as we are, you are probably ready to take home improvement outdoors!

Below are the monthly home owner tips from EFynch! All advice is designed for homeowner in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area. *If you are new home buyer- we hope this can help you plan  your budget and get ready for home ownership!


APRIL TO DO LIST:

1.  Okay to energize outdoor water spigots
The threat of hard freezes are over. We may still drop below freezing but it is safe to turn out outdoor plumbing. If it drops below freezing, you may want to turn faucets on a drip.




2. Change HVAC air filters
April is a bi-monthly air filter changing month. Your lungs will thank you. Don't skip this.



3. Inspect Gutters/ Downspouts
Because Gutters, they're not just for Autumn!


4. Clean Yard, Fertilize, Mulch
Get rid of all the winter debris, make that yard sparkle- the grass is growing soon enough!


 5. Prep-Outdoor Power Equipment
With the yard sparkle, you will need to keep it in shape!


6. Paint Outdoor Furniture
You should repaint furniture every year. It will help it last longer and keep it looking nice!



7. Go Green
Earth Day is April 22nd. Everyone loves clean air, and you will love reducing your electric bill.

Shovel your driveway for convenience. Shovel the sidewalk or be FINED!

These are your good neighbors who are out clearing their driveways in order to avoid busting their Phisteris' or just taking a terrible slip.  But I have to tell you, it doesn't end there. As a dog owner (actually, 2 mutts in my household!), I take them out for an stroll every evening. I constantly encounter a lack of sidewalk clearing and because I don't want to be a nosy neighbor, I politely trudge through the snow risking my own demise. Therein lies a problem because without resolution, you are opening yourself to fines and even worse, HOMEOWNER LIABILITY. I live in Baltimore County. Your home improvement/ handyman fears are now diminished and the smiling (sometimes made up) personality is assuring your comfort.
