Towson, MD: Most customers want to know they are hiring the right person for the job. There is simply no better way for them to gauge this then to see ACCURATE ratings of a potential handyman.
This is one area where EFynch is working the hardest to help you, and promote the good work that you are doing. Getting rated is pretty simple and below are quick tips.
*one average, contractors with an EFynch rating get picked 8 out of 10 times. They also fetch up to 20% higher rates.
1. You have to use EFynch Escrow to get rated. Only posting reviews from VERIFIED PROJECTS
is our policy. We are NEVER going to allow someone to "buy" reviews or pay for their way to the top. We simply are making sure all ratings are real.
2. Homeowners want communication. This is vital. Text, call, use the EFynch Homeowner Chat System (which we are upgrading this summer). Tell a homeowner you availability, send a confirmation the day before, text if you are running more than 5 minutes late. Communication gives comfort.
3. Keep a clean site. Dress professionally, no smoking on the site, clean up debris while working and at the end of the day. Show the owners you take pride in your work and they will respect you for it.
4. Address problems with a solution. Hey, it's construction and everyone knows issues arise. When something goes away from plan, tell the owner right away BUT, give them at least 2 solutions to resolve any issues. This let's them know you are in control.
5. Avoid Conflict, be a problem solver (even if it costs). You are working on someone's home, this is their pride and joy so emotions can get high. Don't argue with a homeowner. Explain things clearly and instead of if you have a tough challenge, take a moment to weigh if the solution outweighs the conflict. I once saw a guy ruin a relationship with a homeowner because he didn't want to pay for a $10 part and spend an extra hour. The resolution is worth more than pride and sometimes can build your reputation stronger.
6. Finish the job. You can spend 100 hours on a project but if you smudge paint at the end or leave 1 thing undone, it is a cloud over all the prior work. Before leaving any site, talk one final walk around to make sure all loose ends are tied up.
FINAL TIP: Do something unique to set you apart- This is something that makes you unique and will put a smile on the owner's face. When I installed solar panels, we cleaned their gutters. When I mount a TV, I wear an apron and at the end I give the homeowner a small level as a gift and say it is so they can "check my work". Sounds funny? Trust me, this will pay for itself 10x over!
Remember, the ratings systems is the ultimate gauge. When you use EFynch Escrow, the system does more than provide security for customer payments, it gives you access to the entire EFynch system. Which, will save you time, money, and be a valuable marketing tool for you business and brand.
